They were eventually were pushed into better climates for agrigulture in North America before they too were fully absorbed or killed.We have no record of anything that would be considered a golden city, but in the Book of Mormon, there were more than one group of people who migrated to North America and in one instance, only one man was found a survivor and an overgrown city of dead soldiers and civilians were found with a rocord. The record and what the local tribes explained to the a Nephite tribe described events that lead to every man, woman, and child being killed in a civil war save for the half dead leader of one faction. So, what I've come up with, watching these icebergs for the second time, is that these "mysteries" are basically half done cut quests and given the illusion of "immersion" when you find out what they were gonna do with it.

Whilst these are indeed fascinating and I've delved into several rabbit holes because of this video that clown on the Atlantic city boardwalk is what's keeping me up. As well as the ongoing lack of information pertaining to both the interloper and the visitor. However the god damn note mentioning Nate was onto something with Dunwhich has turned into chronic insomnia.
